Numerical Modeling of Discharge Coefficient of Symmetric and Asymmetric Rectangular Labyrinth Weir by Using FLOW-3D Software

چکیده
A labyrinth weir is an important hydraulic structure used to regulate hydraulic heads and control flow in canals, rivers, and dam reservoirs. FLOW-3D software was used to numerically model symmetric and asymmetric rectangular Labyrinth Weir. The (Cd) permeability coefficient is a function of hydraulically variable factors such as (Ht / P) hydraulic head to weir height ratio, (WL/WR) left to right cycle width ratio, and (B/Wavg) longitudinal weir ratio, according to the results of Buckingham dimensional analysis (The length of the lateral weir crest to the average width of the weir cycle). Experimental tests were performed on a rectangular flume with 8 m length, 0.6 m width, and 0.6 m height, and the researcher modeled it in FLOW-3D software. The results showed that numerical and physical modeling is in good agreement with each other. In symmetrical labyrinth weirs, the discharge coefficient obtained from physical modeling was about 27% higher than numerical modeling. Numerical modeling showed that the discharge coefficient of asymmetric labyrinth weirs is about 16% higher than the discharge coefficient of symmetric labyrinth weirs.
